On the move: LOS ANGELES

19. July 2011 by Palle Schmidt

Aw, man… Where to begin?

Maybe I’ll just post some pictures.

Palms and scyscrapers. Weird to see the film-iconic imagery in real life. A lot of my favorite movies are set in L.A. Heat, Reservoir Dogs,  The Big Lebowski, Falling Down.

Disneyland. Shit. Still only in Disneyland.

View from the reception area of a media company I gave a copy of my book. After hours, so no one was there. Just dumped my script and book in a plastic bucket with a handwritten note on it. Very glamorous.

Ex-governor Scwarzenegger without his skin on display in Venice Beach.

Santa Monica Pier at dusk, before outdoor concert.
A rare moment with not many cars on the road. If the series 24 was real life, Jack Bauer would be stuck in the L.A. traffic for episodes at a time.

Universal Studios! Waterworld! Full memory card just before the explosions start!
The mighty Kong supposedly lives near here. 3D experience scared the shit out of the girls. Ice cream bribes ensued.

The Universal Studio tour takes you through sets from War of the Worlds (above), Back to the Future, Spiderman – even Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane and the Bates Motel from Psycho. A great ride for movie geeks.

Tim Burton exhibit at Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Drawings, designs, films, puppets and props on display. We spent hours in there, highly recommended.

That’s it. Tomorrow we head South to Comic Con in San Diego. Hope to see some of you there.
