Got a local tour of Willamsburg and Green Point yesterday from a native Brooklynite. Chris Miskiewicz and I are working together on a few things, one of them the story of New York magician and occult detective Thomas Alsop – see the pilot comic episode on Trip City.
We visited the Alsop family lot at St. Michael’s Cemetery where the withering gravestones of this once powerful New York family still stand, in an area that used to be called Wolf Swamp, because of the large number of wolves that prowled the marshlands, back in the 17-somethings.
Chris was a great guide, not only well informed in historical matters, but he also knows where the good places to eat are. I ended the day back in Manhattan, meeting up with Danish comics guys here for the MoCCA art festival that starts today. In about an hour actually, so I gotta go! See you at the show.
