Speak softly and carry a big stick
LaTour’s right-hand man Miguel is living under considerable strain. He can see his boss’ screw-up’s a mile away, but is unable to stop him from making them. Since LaTour often answers criticism with a bullet, Miguel has to step very carefully. Miguel thinks LaTour has been promoted to above his level of competence, to put it mildly, but he doesn’t have the stomach to face him down. He tries to manage the account and keep the business going, while LaTour is crashing the organization. Miguel is the one who has to clean up LaTour’s mess, whenever the erratic crime boss loses his cool. Miguel never looses his cool, is always well-dressed, soft-spoken and professional. LaTour pushes the boundaries of Miguel’s loyalty, by ignoring his advice and sticking a gun in his face once too often.
When he hesitates killing Linda, Miguel is knocked unconscious and captured by the police. Pragmatic as he is, he spills everything he knows about LaTour, Ringo, the Rastafaris and the Concubine to the baffled detectives debriefing him. The one piece of information he keeps to himself, is the contents of the mysterious case.
